JAPANESE NAKED MAN FESTIVAL

An inclusive friendly branding that looked to incorporate the brotherhood and open-hearted nature of the Hadaka Matsuri Festival in Japan.

The design was based around the most famous festival held at Saidaiji Temple in Okayama, where the festival originated. Every year, over 9,000 men participate in the festival with the hopes of gaining luck for the entire year by battling each other for magic sticks.

They chant ‘WASSHOI, WASSHOI, WASSHOI” in unison which roughly translates somewhere in between ‘heave – ho’ and ‘to stay with harmony’.

A Risograph print of the logo in Red and Blue can be purchased via the Chariso Press. All sales from this print go to the Maggies Cancer Charity.
